TIL Launches Game-Changing Machines at EXCON 2025

TIL offers a diverse portfolio of material handling and construction equipment designed to meet the toughest industrial challenges. From cranes to forklifts, the company’s products combine global technology with local expertise to deliver unmatched performance in Indian conditions. In an exclusive interview with CONSTRUCTION OPPORTUNITIES, ALOK KUMAR TRIPATHI, WHOLE TIME DIRECTOR & PRESIDENT, TIL LIMITED, speaks about the new launches at EXCON 2025, after-sales support, and more.
What are the new products, technologies you have launched here. And how is it serving the evolving needs of the construction and infrastructure sector in India?
At EXCON 2025, TIL has launched three breakthrough products under our ‘Three Ka Dum’ concept—which represents both our three product launches and the three-in-one capability of our headline product. The first is the CarryKing 515—India’s first pick-and-carry-on-deck crane. This is a fully patented product that allows us to participate in the pick-and-carry crane segment, which is the largest segment of the overall crane market.
This product caters to retail customers, but more importantly, it addresses a critical need in the industry. To be part of India’s growth story, you need to participate in retail growth, and that’s why we’re here.
How are we different from other players who are already doing well in this space? Our product is driven by three key priorities, with safety being number one.
This is an extremely safe machine. We have ensured that customer concerns with existing pick-and-carry products in the country are addressed. The segment has unfortunately witnessed numerous accidents due to equipment that compromises on safety standards. The whole purpose of launching the CarryKing 515 is to give our customers an extremely safe machine that is multi-utility, suitable for multiple applications, and can be used across all terrains—whether in the mountains, on the ground, or within plants.
We’ve added many technical features to this machine. For instance, we’ve made it four-wheel steer, which provides excellent maneuverability in constrained spaces like city limits and metro projects, or on narrow mountain roads. With four-wheel drive, you don’t have to worry about gradients, tough terrain, or slushy ground.
The crane features 360-degree continuous slew capability—both on tires and outriggers—which increases working flexibility. We’ve designed the cabin to be compact, increasing deck space to 7.5 meters so you can carry large items like pipes and logs. The operator’s cabin allows 360-degree visibility—the operator can simply turn around to see everything. It’s powered by an Ashok Leyland H4C513022 engine with a class-leading 130HP output and can reach a top speed of 26.5 km/hr unladen.
What makes this machine special is its ability to pick up material, carry it while moving, and place it at the destination. Normally, you’d need to pick up material, load it onto a trailer, transport it, then use another crane at the destination to unload it. This machine solves that logistical problem.
In terms of capacity, it has a 15-ton pick-and-carry capacity at 2.5-meter radius. For carrying material on the deck while moving, the capacity is 6 tons. The boom is a 4-section design extending from 6.5 to 17 meters. We’ve equipped it with a microprocessor-based multifunctional safety system, a non-articulating body design for enhanced stability, and automated interlock mechanisms.
The machine is ideal for shipyards, ports, construction sites, manufacturing plants, and power facilities. We believe roughly one-third of the pick-and-carry crane market—particularly large companies and contractors working on major infrastructure projects—will gravitate toward this product because of its uncompromising focus on safety, stability, and operational control. The distinctive lion’s mane orange paint shade also makes it stand out on any jobsite.
In short, this is a game-changing product that will transform TIL’s future dynamics.
The second product we’ve launched is the RT RST-8, the world’s first rough terrain empty container reachstacker. This is revolutionary. Everything has become containerized, and containerization requires specialized machines. We developed this product in less than eight months, which demonstrates TIL’s agility in identifying market gaps and delivering targeted solutions.
The uniqueness of this machine is that no one in the world has ever made it before. This product addresses a market demand, as most empty container depots are not on paved ground. When containers are stored on unpaved fields, sometimes in rain or water, handling them becomes a serious safety issue. Our RT RST-8 solves these problems and gives customers peace of mind.
It features 4×4 drive and 4-wheel steer capability, handles up to 4 high cube containers in the first row with an 8-ton lifting capacity and 12.6-meter lifting height, and is powered by a Cummins QSB6.7 173 HP engine. It’s designed for container yards, inland container depots, port terminals, logistics hubs, and mining sites with challenging terrain. We’ve also received strong interest from international visitors for its export potential in terrain-challenged markets abroad.
The third machine we’ve launched is the TMS-885, marking TIL’s strategic re-entry into the truck crane segment. This is an 85-ton capacity truck-mounted crane with a 5-section full-power boom ranging from 12.1m to 43.8m. It’s powered by a Cummins QSB6.7 – 260 HP engine and can move with a top speed of 49 km/hr.
This move is about reclaiming our historical market leadership. TIL once held 70-80% market share in this segment. We’ve developed a latest-generation product that’s as cost-effective as possible while being aesthetically pleasing and packed with advanced features. If you look at our machines carefully—the cabin, dashboard, and fittings—you’ll notice the quality. We’ve incorporated telematics connectivity and IoT integration for predictive maintenance and equipment optimization.
This product can freely move 50-100 km at good speeds on highways, meeting the needs of construction companies and infrastructure developers. The response has been very strong—several visitors have expressed confidence in TIL’s ability to reclaim our position in this segment, especially given our reputation for reliability and our strengthening after-sales support network.
Tell us about your aftersales support to customers?
We started as a Caterpillar dealership business. The philosophy since then has been to seed, grow, and harvest. When you sell a machine or engine, you sow the seed and then grow it. I’ve dedicated my career to after-market services—it’s the first thing that comes to mind. While selling comes naturally to me, I believe in building lasting relationships with customers. If you don’t provide good service, they won’t come back.
I came to TIL specifically to improve services. Historically, TIL’s machines were good and customers were happy. Now we’re adding technicians, providing training, improving our workshops, and strengthening our network. We maintain strong presence in the southwest, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai. Our pan-India service network has emerged as a key differentiator during customer conversations at EXCON, with several visitors citing TIL’s reputation for reliable service as a decisive factor in their consideration.
Are you having plans to set up a dealer network for your products?
We are planning to work through dealers. Currently, TIL doesn’t have a dealership structure, though the Gainwell Group has dealers for its allied businesses. For now, we’ve intentionally kept retail product distribution direct to ensure we get immediate customer feedback on our new products and can adapt quickly to their demands. The exhibition has provided an ideal platform for direct engagement between our engineering and product teams and end-users, with live product walk-throughs, technical deep-dive sessions, and hands-on demonstrations.
Eventually, of course, we’ll have dealers. If you’re targeting the retail segment, you need dealers. Having worked as a dealer myself, I understand the dealership model well. But at this stage, we want that direct connection with customers to refine our products and understand their real challenges.
The year 2025 for the whole construction sector, has been a little flat, how do you envisage 2026 and beyond?
I don’t pay much attention to those numbers from a TIL perspective. If we were market leaders, I’d be concerned about whether the market grew 2%, 3%, 7%, or 8%. But TIL hasn’t been fully participating in that growth to begin with, so the most important thing for us is to participate in the industry. Simply entering the market will give us growth.
We’re now going to participate in the biggest retail market in the crane business with the CarryKing 515. We’ll also focus strongly on exports—all three products are designed not only for India but for international markets. We’re also working on various defense projects, and we serve diverse sectors including ports, mining, oil and petrochemicals, steel, railways, airports, power, and pharma.
The infrastructure equipment sector outlook remains favorable, underpinned by government capital expenditure priorities across ports, highways, defense infrastructure, and urban development, alongside accelerating private sector project activity. Our manufacturing facilities in Kamarhati and Kharagpur are equipped with advanced fabrication capabilities and semi-automatic welding machines conforming to international standards. This enables us to produce 100% indigenous equipment that meets global quality benchmarks while maintaining competitive cost structures. At TIL, I see only opportunities.
As India builds future-ready cities and advanced infrastructure, we remain committed to driving progress with machinery that’s smarter, safer, and more environmentally responsible. The overwhelming response at EXCON 2025 validates our strategic direction and reinforces our belief that the market is ready for equipment that refuses to compromise on safety, performance, and innovation.
