Reliance Power Forms JV for Bhutan’s Largest Solar Project
Reliance Power Limited recently announced the signing of a commercial term sheet for a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Green Digital Private Limited (GDL), an entity owned by the Royal Government of Bhutan’s Druk Holding and Investments Limited.
The agreement paves the way for a joint venture to develop Bhutan’s largest solar project. The project is planned under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model and is expected to involve a capital outlay of up to Rs.2,000 crore.
According to an official statement from the company, this investment represents the largest private sector foreign direct investment (FDI) to date in Bhutan’s burgeoning solar energy sector. The collaboration signifies a significant step in boosting renewable energy capacity in the Himalayan kingdom.
India, Maldives Sign 13 MoUs to Boost Ferry Services with Indian Grant.
India and the Maldives recently signed 13 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at significantly enhancing ferry services and bolstering maritime connectivity across the archipelago nation. The agreements, supported by an Indian grant assistance of MVR 100 million, are also set to uplift community livelihoods.
The MoUs were signed for projects slated for implementation under Phase III of India’s High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) scheme. The signing ceremony, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Maldives, was hailed by the Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement as another milestone in the continuously strengthening partnership between the two countries.
The 13 projects launched under this phase represent a total grant of MVR 100 million, equivalent to approximately ₹55,28,47,552. The primary focus of these projects is to improve and expand ferry services within the Maldives, thereby enhancing inter-island connectivity and contributing to the socio-economic well-being of local communities.
