Our focus is equally strong on supporting customers throughout the equipment lifecycle.

CASE machines stand out in the market due to their cutting-edge technology, which enhances productivity, efficiency, and overall performance. In an exclusive interview to CONSTRUCTION OPPORTUNITIES, SHALABH CHATURVEDI, MANAGING DIRECTOR, INDIA & SAARC REGION – CASE CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT, CNH, gives an overview on the mini ng equipment industry, his company’s machines, future outlook and a lot more.
Briefly give us an overview of the mining equipment industry, the latest trends and market dynamics?
India’s mining equipment industry is entering a new phase of growth, driven by the country’s increasing focus on energy security, critical minerals and infrastructure development. Continued investments in coal production, commercial mining, steel and cement capacity expansion and the exploration of critical minerals are creating sustained demand for high-performance mining equipment. At the same time, the industry is witnessing a gradual shift from conventional equipment to technologically advanced, fuel-efficient and connected machines that deliver higher productivity, improved safety and lower operating costs. India’s growing manufacturing capabilities and export competitiveness are also positioning the country as an important global hub for mining and construction equipment.
Looking ahead, the industry will be defined by greater mechanisation, digitalisation and sustainability. Customers today are looking beyond equipment specifications and evaluating the complete value proposition, including telematics, predictive maintenance, automation and lifecycle support that maximise machine uptime and operational efficiency. At CASE, we believe these trends will continue to accelerate as mining operations become larger and more productivity-focused. Our emphasis remains on delivering reliable, technologically advanced solutions that help customers improve efficiency, reduce total cost of ownership and operate more sustainably in an increasingly competitive environment.
Detail us on your mining equipment, types and capacities. How is your organisation integrating advancements in digitalisation, automation, AI, telematics and predictive technologies to enhance productivity, safety, lifecycle value and overall machine performance for customers?
Mining operations today demand far more than high-capacity machines, they require intelligent equipment that delivers consistent performance, maximises uptime and enables customers to make faster, data-driven decisions. At CASE Construction Equipment, our mining portfolio comprises crawler excavators, wheel loaders and vibratory compactors designed to perform reliably across mining, quarrying and heavy earthmoving applications. Our excavator range, including the CX220C LC, is engineered for high breakout force, fuel efficiency and durability, while our wheel loaders and compactors are built to ensure efficient material handling and site preparation, helping customers optimise productivity across the mining value chain.
The industry is also witnessing a significant shift towards connected and intelligent equipment. Through our myCASE Construction telematics platform, we provide customers with real-time visibility into machine health, fuel consumption, utilisation, idle time, location, service schedules and fault diagnostics. This enables predictive maintenance, minimises unplanned downtime and improves fleet utilisation, ultimately reducing the total cost of ownership. Looking ahead, digitalisation, automation and AI-powered analytics will increasingly transform mining operations by enabling predictive decision-making, enhancing operator safety and improving lifecycle performance. At CASE, we continue to invest in these technologies to deliver smarter, more connected solutions that help customers achieve higher productivity, greater operational efficiency and sustainable business outcomes.
What sort of Customer centric initiatives has your company undertaken to be one step ahead of competition?
At CASE Construction Equipment, customer centricity goes beyond delivering reliable machines, it is about building long-term partnerships that help customers improve productivity, maximise uptime and achieve better business outcomes. We work closely with customers to understand their operating conditions, application requirements and business objectives, enabling us to recommend the right equipment and solutions for their specific needs. This consultative approach, combined with continuous customer feedback, plays a vital role in shaping our product development, service offerings and technology roadmap.
Our focus is equally strong on supporting customers throughout the equipment lifecycle. A robust dealer and service network, timely availability of genuine parts, skilled service personnel and connected technologies that enable remote machine monitoring and predictive maintenance help customers optimise fleet utilisation and minimise unplanned downtime. Increasingly, customers are looking beyond the machine to comprehensive solutions that include application support, maintenance planning and lifecycle services. By combining innovative products with strong after-sales support and digital capabilities, we remain committed to helping customers enhance operational efficiency, lower the total cost of ownership and achieve sustained business growth.
Details us on the initiatives taken by your company in terms of skilling the operators.
The construction and mining equipment industry is becoming increasingly technology-driven, making skilled operators just as important as advanced machines. As equipment incorporates greater levels of automation, digitalisation and safety features, the ability of operators to utilise these technologies effectively has a direct impact on productivity, machine performance and workplace safety. At CASE Construction Equipment, we believe that investing in human capital is essential to building a stronger and more efficient construction ecosystem. With this vision, we launched Project Hunar, our flagship skill development initiative aimed at creating a pipeline of trained construction equipment operators. The programme combines classroom learning with extensive hands-on training, equipping participants with both technical expertise and industry-ready skills. Since its inception, Project Hunar has trained over 520 young individuals, with nearly 70% successfully securing employment opportunities. In addition, we regularly conduct operator training programmes, machine familiarisation sessions and best-practice workshops for customers to help them improve equipment utilisation, enhance safety standards and maximise machine productivity. For us, skilling is not just a training initiative, it is a long-term investment in strengthening India’s infrastructure capabilities and supporting the nation’s vision of a skilled and self-reliant workforce.
Future outlook on the industry and from a company perspective.
India’s construction and mining equipment industry remains well positioned for long-term growth, supported by sustained investments in infrastructure, mining, logistics and industrial development. While the industry has experienced some near-term headwinds due to geopolitical uncertainties and fluctuations in input costs, these have primarily impacted the pace of project execution rather than the underlying demand. As execution gathers momentum, supported by initiatives such as the Jal Jeevan Mission and growing investments in sectors like logistics parks and data centres, we remain optimistic about the industry’s growth trajectory. Going forward, greater mechanisation, digitalisation and a stronger focus on sustainability will continue to reshape the sector, with customers increasingly seeking higher productivity, operational efficiency and lower total cost of ownership.
For CASE Construction Equipment, India continues to be one of the most strategic growth markets globally. We remain committed to expanding our manufacturing capabilities, strengthening our product portfolio and investing in technologies that enhance machine performance and customer productivity. Our growth strategy is driven by both organic expansion and the introduction of new product categories, supported by a strong dealer and service network. As we look ahead, our focus will remain on delivering innovative, application-driven solutions while contributing to India’s vision of building world-class infrastructure through locally manufactured, globally competitive equipment.
