Equipment Ticker December 2025

Schwing Stetter (India) Pvt. Ltd., one of India’s leading concreting equipment manufacturers, reaffirmed its commitment to industrial skilling and Indo-German cooperation as a partner at the 59th Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) Annual Regional Meet held in Chennai. The event marked a significant stride in strengthening Indo-German collaboration as MoUs focusing on skill development, MSME empowerment, and industrial capability building were formalized.

A major milestone was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Gedee Technical Training Institute (GTTI), the Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ), and a Section 8 Company comprising shareholders from IGCC and the German Business Group, Chennai.

This partnership aims to establish a dedicated Skill Development Centre at MEPZ, Tambaram, to deliver advanced technical training aligned with globally benchmarked German industrial standards. Schwing Stetter India is among the prominent industry supporters of this initiative, advocating for the development of high-quality technical talent required by the manufacturing and engineering sectors.

The ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including  VG Sakthikumar, Chairman and Managing Director, Schwing Stetter (India) Pvt. Ltd., who represented the company’s continued focus on vocational development and its commitment to strengthening Tamil Nadu’s industrial capabilities.

Commenting on the initiative, VG Sakthikumar said: “We have strengthened our skilling efforts by signing MoUs across states such as Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Assam, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. Through these initiatives, we have already enrolled more than 1,300 candidates. Our training programs cover key job roles. We continue to focus on building practical, industry-ready skills through our established training ecosystem, including our Centre of Excellence at our Global Manufacturing Hub in Cheyyar.”

The newly announced Skill Development Centre will initially focus on making trainees shop-floor ready through programs in CNC machining and digital manufacturing tools. Subsequent phases will introduce deeper specializations aligned with international certification frameworks, helping address the rising demand for high-precision engineering talent across the construction, concrete equipment, automotive, and heavy engineering industries, where Schwing Stetter plays a leadership role.

The event also witnessed the formal exchange of a Letter of Intent between IGCC and the Andhra Pradesh MSME Development Corporation to support MSME skill development and facilitate the rollout of German-standard technical training across the state.

Bobcat has unveiled its new MT120 mini track loader, described as the company’s most powerful machine of its type.

The new MT120 has a 1.2-liter diesel engine with no DPF, a direct drive system and maintenance-free rollers and bushings, all of which are said to reduce operating costs and the total cost of ownership.

At just 91 cm wide, the MT120 is suited to working in small areas. Maximum tipping load is 1,573 kg.

Additionally, the integrated platform offers optimal visibility, while smooth controls deliver precise machine movement.

“Between 2010 and 2020, the median lot size for a new home decreased by almost 18%, and we are supporting workers to adapt to these smaller spaces,” said Federico Fernandez-Ayala Novo, senior product manager for GME at Bobcat. “Our mini track loader can go where other machines can’t.”

Compatible with more than 20 categories of attachments, the machine is suitable for a wide range of applications: levelling, preparation for seed or sod, tree or branch removal, fencing, irrigation, material handling, snow removal, etc.

The machine’s small size, low ground pressure and high capacity are said to make the MT120 ideal for use in garden landscaping and working on finished concrete surfaces.

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) it to expand its European industrial footprint with a new crawler excavator assembly factory in Eskilstuna, Sweden.

The investment can be seen as part of the OEMs strategy of strengthening its sales of excavators, as well as its commitment to the European market.

Volvo CE says that the 30,000m² Eskilstuna facility will help to meet growing European customer demand by increasing capacity and flexibility.

It said that it will also enable reduced reliance on long-distance logistics, shorter delivery times, enhancing supply chain resilience and reducing carbon emissions.

Melker Jernberg, Head of Volvo CE, said that the factory, “will strengthen Europe’s innovation and engineering power and industrial resilience in an increasingly competitive global market. To get full leverage, we also count on a strong and swift execution on Europe’s and Sweden’s promised agenda on regulatory and administrative simplification.”

The SEK700 million (US$73 million) facility investment will be built for a production volume up to 3,500 machines yearly on a mixed line of both electric and internal combustion engine models, in the medium and large size classes between 14-50 tonne.

This investment is a part of the SEK2.5 billion (US$2.6 billion) investment announced in June 2025 dedicated to excavator manufacturing capabilities in Korea, Sweden and in the US.

The decision to establish the new crawler excavator plant in Eskilstuna is subject to approvals of relevant environmental and building permits by the regulatory authorities. Groundwork is estimated to begin during the first half of 2026 with start of production within two years from project initiation.

Volvo’s latest compact wheel loader brings updated controls, better traction and easier maintenance.

Volvo’s next-generation L30 compact wheel loader delivers maneuverability, versatility and comfort for contractors working in material-handling, landscaping and municipal applications.

The L30 runs on a 74-horsepower Volvo engine, comes with a 1.3-cubic-yard bucket and has a fork payload of 2.4 tons.

It offers a tip load of approximately 9,000 pounds at full turn, and nearly 10,000 pounds straight.

Key features and upgrades include:

  • Simplified Operation: A 7-inch display with a jog dial replaces many of the buttons that were previously found on the machine’s dashboard.
  • Attachment Versatility: Auxiliary hydraulics and an 8-pin connector allow the loader to be used with a wide range of work tools, including sweepers and milling machines.
  • Traction and Stability: The L30 has 24 inches of ground clearance. To increase traction, Volvo uses a combination of an articulating oscillating joint and 100% differential locks on both axles.
  • Ground-Level Maintenance: Maintenance points are accessible from the rear, and refueling requires the hood to be opened, ensuring checks are conducted regularly.
  • Visibility and Safety: A lowered exhaust stack improves rear visibility, while dual-side cab access and anti-slip steel steps enhance operator safety.
