Built for Every Terrain: Tata Motors’ Future-Ready Tippers Power India’s Infrastructure Momentum

Tata Motors has always been setting new benchmarks to be ahead of competition.  To support India’s evolving infrastructure and construction ecosystem, Tata Motors India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, offers one of the most versatile and future-ready tipper portfolios in the country, ranging from 3.5T to 48T across its SFC, LPT, Ultra, Signa, and Prima platforms. In an exclusive interview to CONSTRUCTION OPPORTUNITIES, RAJESH KAUL, VICE PRESIDENT AND BUSINESS HEAD – TRUCKS, TATA MOTORS COMMERCIAL VEHICLES,, provides an overview on the mining equipment industry, his company’s product offerings, cutting edge technologies and a lot more.

The mining equipment industry in India is at a pivotal juncture, driven by the rising demand for critical minerals and a sharp acceleration in infrastructure development. The Union Budget FY26 has reinforced this momentum through substantial investments across key verticals, including roads, railways, SEZs, ports, and irrigation, positioning high-performance tippers as essential enablers of the country’s growth and development ambitions.

As India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Tata Motors offers one of the most versatile and future-ready tipper portfolios in the country, ranging from 3.5T to 48T across its SFC, LPT, Ultra, Signa, and Prima platforms. From compact, fuel-efficient SFC and LPT tippers ideal for municipal work and last-mile construction, to Ultra, Signa and Prima tippers engineered for high-load, high-endurance use in quarries, road building, and overburden removal, every model is built with application-specific durability, performance, and uptime in mind.

Our Construck range, across the Signa and Prima platforms, ranging from 28-48T have long been the preferred workhorse for heavy-duty mining applications. With multiple wheelbase options and heavy-duty configurations, these fully-built solutions ensure faster deployment and consistent performance on challenging terrains.

In line with our commitment to sustainable mobility, we also showcased alternate fuel-powered tippers for heavy-duty applications. The LNG-powered Prima G.35K addresses use cases in infrastructure development, irrigation, and mineral transport, while the Prima E.28K, a 28-tonne battery-electric tipper is currently undergoing real-world trials and will be commercially rolled out soon. These vehicles reflect our focus on greener, smarter, and future-ready solutions for the mining ecosystem.

Most recently, at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, we unveiled the Prima 35.K Auto Shift, a heavy-duty tipper engineered for rigorous deep mining applications. Powered by the all-new 8.5L Cummins engine, introduced in India for the first time, this vehicle delivers enhanced power, efficiency, and profitability for fleet owners operating in the most demanding conditions.

Our Construck range of mining tippers seamlessly combine robust engineering with advanced technology to meet the evolving demands of the customers. Powered by Cummins ISBe 6.7L 6-cylinder BS6 engine, the tippers deliver 320 HP and 1100 Nm of torque, offering superior performance and reliability. This is complemented by an optimised transmission, planetary hub-reduction axles, a fully reinforced chassis, heavy-duty clutch, and robust bogie suspension- all designed to providing high load-bearing capability and dynamic stability across rough terrain .The vehicles also come equipped with smart features such as Hill Start Assist, Engine Braking, Automatic Traction Control, Reverse Parking Sensors, and Vertical Exhausts to support safer and dust-free operations on site. The Driver Monitoring System actively tracks driver fatigue and distraction, further improving on-ground safety.

Advancing this proposition is Fleet Edge, Tata Motors’ connected vehicle platform, now supporting over 8.25 lakh commercial vehicles. Built to empower fleet managers and operators, it delivers real-time insights on vehicle health, fuel usage, location, and driver behaviour—enabling faster decisions that enhance uptime and reduce operating costs.

At Tata Motors, we view after-sales service as an integral part of our overall value proposition. Our nationwide network of over 3,200 service touchpoints ensures customers receive timely support across the country. Through Sampoorna Seva 2.0, we offer a comprehensive suite of solutions—including 24×7 breakdown assistance, on-site support with trained technicians and critical parts, assured service turnaround times, and customised AMC plans tailored to customer needs. The availability of Tata Genuine Parts further ensures component reliability and long-term performance. Combined with a 6-year / 6000-hour warranty, these offerings not only maximise uptime but also improve lifecycle efficiency and deliver low total cost of ownership. In a market where fleet performance is business-critical, our after-sales ecosystem stands out as a strategic enabler of operational continuity and customer confidence.
