New Terminal at Udaipur Airport Nears Completion; Plans Underway for Overseas Flights
Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu recently announced in the Rajya Sabha that a new terminal building at Udaipur International Airport, Rajasthan, is nearing completion and is scheduled to be inaugurated later this year. Discussions with airlines are underway to launch overseas flights from the city.
Replying to a question from BJP MP Chunnilal Garasiya on international services, Naidu said the new terminal is under construction and will be ready soon, with plans to start international operations in the near future.
The minister highlighted the growth of the Indian aviation sector over the last 11 years, noting a significant increase in the number of airports, aircraft, and passengers. This expansion has also created a growing demand for skilled workforce in the sector.
Naidu detailed that Ground Handling Agencies (GHAs) are responsible for recruiting and training personnel in areas such as passenger handling, baggage management, ramp operations, safety procedures, emergency response, customer service, and operation of specialised equipment. Training is provided through structured classroom sessions, on-the-job learning, and periodic refresher programs.
These skill development initiatives, aligned with broader government policies, are conducted nationwide in collaboration with airlines, training institutes, and other airport service providers to ensure adequate workforce capacity across the aviation sector.

Amaravati Major Construction Works to Be Completed by 2028, Says N. Chandrababu Naidu.
N. Chandrababu Naidu has asserted that the development of Amaravati, the greenfield capital of Andhra Pradesh, is unstoppable, with major construction works slated for completion by 2028.
Addressing a press conference in Amaravati recently, the Chief Minister said Narendra Modi, who had earlier laid the foundation stone for the capital and revisited after the NDA government resumed construction in 2024, is expected to inaugurate key projects in the city in 2029. Naidu confirmed that Amaravati has gained irreversible momentum following Parliament’s passage of a Bill granting legal status to the capital. He described the development as a major victory for the five crore people of Andhra Pradesh and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a world-class “people’s capital.”
