In an exclusive interview to CONSTRUCTION OPPORTUNITIES, HARPREET SINGH WAHAN – DIRECTOR & BUSINESS HEAD – INDIA & ASEAN REGION, ENOVATION CONTROLS INDIA, gives an overview on the components industry, his company’s product offerings, cutting edge technologies and a lot more.

Give us an overview of the components industry and the general market scenario? 

The components market especially in our controls segment is at an important pivot point where equipment OEM’s are now increasingly looking at electronics to be the game changer and value enhancer in their equipment. Technology is what can help improve the vehicle efficiency, make them safer and easy to operate.

Details us about your product offerings their types and applications. What distinguishes your products from competitors?

We are a Controls Company offering Rugged Equipment Displays, I/O Modules, Hydraulic and Machine controllers, Sensors, Equipment Power Distribution Modules and Cabin Integration Solutions like Keypads and Steering Columns. We are an OEM focused company who have a strong understanding of equipment and an experienced Application Engineering team in India who works with our customers to make solutions work. On the hardware side, we have the biggest range of displays in the market that are among the toughest in the market

What Cutting edge technologies and the salient features do you bring to the OEM equipment ? How do they benefit?

We believe in Intelligent Equipment Integration and are there to offer simple solutions to our OEM’s problems – from the simple ones to the most complex ones with multi-level interlocks and controls. To achieve this we bring in the latest in control technologies to the Off Highway market. Our capability to make equipment more Operator friendly, Service friendly, have enhanced safety features and be Intuitive to use is what our OEM customers admire. This could be done by integrating Intelligent Displays and Controls, Keypads, Telemetry Solutions, Electro-Hydraulic Controls, Anti Collision solutions, Predictive Diagnostics to name a few.   

What sort of Customer centric initiatives has your company undertaken to be one step ahead of competition?

We are committed to the Indian and ASEAM markets. Our Pune facility is a full fledged Manufacturing and Integration setup which works closely with our global locations and our OEM customers. Closeness to the customer, products built for the application, strong and established systems of documentation, process controls and an in depth understanding of the applications is what we bring to the table. Adding to this is continuous training of our customers and the end users helps us establish a great connect with our customer and stay ahead of our competition.

Has your company launched any new products or launching anything new at EXCON 2025?

Yes, We are showcasing a few new products for the first time at EXCON 2025 – a S35 Control Panel, the IX Series of Mobile Controllers and the Cabin Integration systems and Steering Columns with a 7 inch interface display. All focused towards better integration options to our customers.

Major demands made by end-users of your products. Is there a shift from initial cost price to TCO in Buyer Decisions? Importance of Aftermarket Services?

Yes. The shift to TCO is visible among an increasing section of OEMs. They are also more involved in the implementation of the technology. Initial cost is still looked at but TCO and continuous support are gaining importance.

The end user also now wants the latest in technology in what they buy, more ergonomic cabins and increased reliability all working towards zero downtime.  

Give us a brief view of your manufacturing facilities – their locations, product line, capacities and investments planned?  

We have 4 global facilities spread over the US, UK, Mexico and India. Our India facility in Pune is a manufacturing and an integration facility catering to India and the entire ASEAN region including South Korea.

Our strong team of application engineers work with OEMs to understand their specific requirements and cater solutions to meet that. We also offer solutions like Control panels, Proto wiring harnesses and complete Electro-hydraulic machine control solutions. 

Your assessment of India’s manufacturing policy, to what extent does it foster growth of your company?

The central and the state government in Maharashtra have taken several steps to promote Electronics manufacturing in India and the policies in place are making a difference. The Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) business in India is a step in creating the ecosystem needed to build electronics which we currently lack.

The focus needs to be on a model that offers end-to-end solutions, from initial product design to manufacturing and support with a strong emphasis on high-growth sectors like automotive and industrial. The policies have been supportive and have put us as a country on the right path. At Enovation we are in tune with this and will continue to invest to play our part.

What is your outlook for the components industry and your company going forward? Which sectors will be the major demand drivers?

With several new OEMs on board we are globally on a stable growth trajectory in India we have seen growth in range of around 15 % every year from past 6 years with healthy business mix and profitability.

New product launches and new OEM relationships are expected to keep the growth intact. Our focus on the ASEAN countries is also expected to drive further growth.
