Give a brief overview of the Cranes industry in India, latest trends and market dynamics.

While the Pandemic is subsiding, the market looks upbeat, especially the infrastructure development sector is witnessing a upward demand growth. One can say the market has picked up very well in tyre mounted medium and heavy-duty cranes. These are mainly used for refineries, green field project, high speed railways and metro. Few large crawler cranes capacities are also in demand for Wind turbines with increased HUB height.

 

 

Many states have now eased the lockdown, has there been a uptake in sales for your company, provide details with regards to the current situation of the industry and what are your strategies to overcome these challenges.

Schwing Stetter has always been focussing on long term strategies with respect to Supply chain of equipment. The Challenges faced with the Manufacturing and logistics due to the increased uptake in sales has been arrested long before with Schwing Stetter’s Global manufacturing hub inauguration. Stock transfer thru the railways is one the innovations we have opted which is proving to be cost effective and efficient.

 

 

Tell us of your various crane offerings their lifting capacities, applications and their demand in the Indian market.

In the tower crane we offer models XGT7022-10SS to model XGT8040-32S in the range of 5 ton to 32 tons lifting capacity. In the Crawler crane we offer models XGC55 to XCG 150-1A in the range of 55 to 150 ton lifting capacity. In the ALL Terrain cranes we offer models XCA160 to XCA 500 in the range of 160 to 500 tons lifting capacity. In the truck crane we offer models XCT50-Y to XCT150-Y in the range of 50 tons to 150 tons lifting capacity.

 

 

Please provide details on your emphasis on technology – features like intelligent crane control systems and digital platforms imbibed in your cranes and innovations? What are the advancements your have introduced or plan to introduce?

The cranes are designed keeping in mind economy and ease in operation, assembly and transportation. i.e. Crawler cranes feature integrated transport design to reduce assembly time, Modular design of same platform products ensures interchangeability of components and nesting of smaller booms inside larger booms to reduce no of trailer required for transport.

 

 

Detail us on the USP’s of your crane, ease of operating your machines, operator comfort and Safety features in your products.

Tyre mounted cranes feature sliders to increase contact area between boom sections thus improving overall integrity of extended boom structure.

Patented Telescoping technology controls boom extension and retraction sequences for smoother operation of telescopic. We are also first in India to introduce All Axle steering in Truck cranes to significantly improve maneuverability.

Safety Features:

Observation of safety guidelines becomes critical in Heavy duty mobile cranes due to higher Weight & size of loads handled and presence of large support manpower around the crane.

Safety Systems consist of Mechanical, Electronic and Hydraulic protection.

Safe Load Indicator Systems with Overload Prevention, Wind Speed Alarm, alarm for operation on uneven ground, Swing/Travel alarms, etc. ensure that operator is well informed of the operating conditions and is issued alarm in case of any impending unsafe working condition. Pawl locks on Winch, Functions lock out in operator cabin, Hydraulic relief valves and Non return valves together contribute to safer operation of the crane.

XCMG All Terrain Cranes Feature, Auto tensioning of Superlift attachment while assembly to eliminate errors due to operator judgement and achieve balanced boom system with Superlift.

 

 

Detail us about the steps initiated to upgrade the skill sets of technicians and operators?

Operator education is must & our Operator Training school at Irungattukottai and GMH Cheyyar is in full swing churning out operators which includes on the job training preceded by Simulator training at the class rooms. We are affiliated with the NSDC and also with the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council for third party assessment and certification.

Special site machine maintenance & operation training at site with our senior training staff for existing customer maintenance personnel is a regular activity.

 

 

Tell us about the indigenisation efforts undertaken by the company to meet the market requirements.

Our GMH Plant in Cheyyar is fully geared up for localized production in the near future.

 

To what extent are aftermarket services a strategic differentiator.

Schwing Stetter has always been associated with its after sales support Excellence, be it Service, Spares or Training requirement. With close to 26 Branches pan India, Schwing Stetter Provides direct service to its crane customers. Scheduled Health Check up of all equipment and Audit of Operators periodically have garnered huge appreciation from the clients.

 

Your strategy in this price sensitive market .

Our production facility is fully automatic & robotic which gives us comfort of producing in volume. Although we cannot control the effect of rising steel & sea freight cost but global demand for tower & Mobile crane gives us volume to balance out domestic market prices.

 

Tell us about the new products you have launched or plan to launch in the near future

We plan to launch the following cranes in the very near future.

In the Tower cranes XT1200 (80105-63) in the 63 ton capacity will be newly launched.

In the Crawler cranes XCG 45 in the 45 ton capacity will be newly launched.

In the ALL terrain Crane XCA 60 & XCA 300 will be the new launches.

In the Truck crane XCT 25 will be the new launch.

 

Future outlook for the industry and from a company perspective

Schwing Stetter foreseeing the increasing demand in the CE industry due to the infra push and India poised to become the second largest market for CE requirements globally, had the foresight to inaugurate our Global manufacturing hub in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu in the year 2020 amid the pandemic. Now, fully functional this 55 acre facility, will not only cater to the domestic requirement but also to the international market. With its R&D center in place, Schwing Stetter will be unveiling a slew of newer technology equipment in the upcoming expo.
