Mission GatiShakti – An INFRA BOOSTER DOSE

On India’s 75th Independence Day, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Centre would soon launch ‘PM GatiShakti Master Plan,’ an `100 lakh-crore project for developing ‘holistic infrastructure. ’October this year, we saw the launch of this highly anticipated move, which aims to help create quality infrastructure for sustainable development and give rise to many economic activities, generating employment on a large scale.

GatiShakti Master Plan intends to enhance the coordination for planning all infrastructure connectivity projects announced under the National Infrastructure Pipeline, putting a thrust on ending inter-ministerial siloes and reducing time to ensure fast-paced execution. Through the launch of this platform, the government has managed to bring 16 crucial ministries on one platform, including Railways, Roads & Highways, Petroleum & Gas, Telecom, Power, Shipping, and Aviation among others. As per the government official release, “Infrastructure creation in India had suffered for decades from multiple issues. PM GatiShakti will address the past issues through institutionalizing holistic planning for stakeholders for major infrastructure projects. Instead of planning & designing separately in siloes, the projects will be designed and executed with a common vision. This reform envisions reducing the cost of logistics to GDP to 8%, which currently stands at 13%. Under this plan, the Indian Railways will establish around 500 multi-modal cargo terminals in four to five years.

The year 2021 is turning out to be one of the best years for the Indian infrastructure sector with a slew of reforms being announced, with the record breaking development of roads & highways and with the government’s clear intentions to break the shackles of inefficiencies. GatiShatki is yet another landmark project announced by the government to boost economic growth.

What does it entail for the infrastructure & construction sector at large? This will serve as the launchpad of growth for companies struggling to take their projects on a fast track due to inherent infrastructural bottlenecks. For the construction companies, it only spells OPPORTUNITIES… opportunities to grab better business prospects, opportunities to collaborate, and opportunities to be a part of this stellar trajectory, which is waiting to unfold in the near future.

Are you READY to take on the POTENT PROSPECTS? The CHOICE is yours… to be the LEADER or the LAGGARD!
