Korean major Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment, manufactures high quality excavators across various capacities for a range of applications. In an exclusive interview to CONSTRUCTION OPPORTUNITIES, SANDEEP KUMAR AGGARWAL, MANAGING DIRECTOR, ARIANDO INFRA MACHINES INDIA, talks about their Doosan product line and the Indian excavator market.



Tell us about the range of excavators offered by you, in terms of types, capacities and applications.

We have a wide range of hydraulic excavators from Doosan in 3.5 to 50 ton operating weight category. Our premium range of excavators’ models include, DX225LCB a 22 ton excavator, and DX300LCA, and DX360LCA, in 30-36 ton class. DX530LC-5B, in 50 ton class is primarily for coal and iron ore mining. Apart from, that we offer rock breakers and special attachments from Doosan and Montabert.



Cutting edge technology featured in your machines. What distinguishes your excavators from competitors.

All machines are manufactured in state-of-art plants confirming to Global Standards of quality and safety. They are equipped with useful features such as Telematics, LCD color monitors, fuel filling system, tropicalized design, ROPS cabs, high grade steel, and undercarriage components., deliver high reliability and durability coupled with aesthetic design. Our customers vouch for reliability and durability of these products, which is evident from high repeat purchase orders.

Doosan machines are one of the most cost efficient machines delivering low life-cycle cost. The Best-in-Class fuel efficiency is delivered through use of E-Pos intelligent controls, higher pump capacity, and fuel efficient DOOSAN engines. OEM parts are competitively priced which delivers value by reducing the maintenance cost. An HVAC cabin with all round visibility, suspension seats, ergonomically designed controls, and many other convenient features help operators to work for long hours without fatigue.



Your strategy to play in a price sensitive market.

Our product range is equipped with premium features without any compromise on quality and safety of the excavators. We don’t compete in the low-cost range of products having only basic functionality ,basic design and lower components specifications. Out main focus is customers and markets that prefer quality products with superior features, productivity, and reliability. We compete on Delivering Value in terms of higher return on investment based on Life Cycle cost.



Aftermarket services as a strategic differentiator.

A network of dealers spread across India is equipped with necessary skill and infrastructure to deliver a convenient and responsive after sales support. The parts supply to dealer network and customers are supported by two main warehouses at Bangalore, stocking over 8000 SKU’s and regional warehouses situated at key locations.


Impact of GST on your products.

Excavators are falling into GST bracket of 28 per cent, which is about 10 per cent higher than earlier tax component comprising of ED & VAT. This would affect retail customers as the cost of acquisition goes up. However the B2B segment of customers may not be affected as they can avail the input tax credit.



Future outlook from the industry perspective and company.

The demand for excavators has been steadily growing over the past 18 months as road and infrastructure related works are progressing rapidly. Considering the focus on infrastructure development and the existing gaps, we expect a healthy growth in the demand for this year and at least for another 3-5 years. We are bullish on Indian market and see a good opportunity to grow the business.
