EMAAR PROPERTIES TO BUILT DUBAI CREEK TOWER

Major cities in the world are often represented by an epoch monument which bestows immense cultural and architectural impact. Dubai’s Emaar Properties aspires to obtain similar achievement with the new Dubai Creek Tower. The new US$ 1 billion Dubai tower which will stand higher than the Burj Khalifa is scheduled to be completed by 2020 in time for Dubai’s own Expo event. The tower will chiefly serve as an architectural tower  and its upper floors between 18 and 20 be used as function rooms, an interior garden space, observation deck and a hotel with restaurants. The observation deck will offer unfettered 360-degree views of the city. The tower will be built under three packages with a company handling the foundation, another its concrete core and a third implementing the fabrication of steel cables which is deemed to be the longest ever used.

 

BOUYGUES BÂTIMENT ILE-DE-FRANCE CONSTRUCTION PRIVÉ TO BUILD ALTO TOWER

Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and Linkcity Ile-de-France a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction has signed a contract worth €200m to build Alto Tower at La Défense, Paris. Alto Tower will have a floor space 51,000 sq m and will be 150 m tall. The building of 38 floors will have an unusual flare shape with its foot’s surface area ranging from 700 sq m and its top floors ranging 1,500 sq m. The tower will feature a glass-scale façade and will form part of the urbanisation of the La Défense ring road and link the Ancre neighborhood in Courbevoie with it. The completion of the project is scheduled for 2020. 

 

LEEDS CITY COUNCIL TO BUILD 1,000 HOMES

Keepmoat and Strata will construct 1,000 new homes across 13 sites in the Seacroft, Halton Moor and Osmandthorpe areas of Leeds. An investment which involves £142m will construct on land used previously for industrial or commercial purposes.

The Leeds City Council stated that the construction would begin by early 2017 and the project would involve overhauling of three neighborhoods.

 

WORK ON PROJECT NEON BEGINS

The city of Las Vegas, The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) along with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) have started construction on a public project worth $1bn called the Project NEON.  Atkins North America serves as the project's lead designer and the general contractor for the project under a $559.4m design-build contract is Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. Since traffic on this route is expected to double by 2035 from the current number of 300,000 vehicles passing by on a daily basis, Project NEON will widen 3.7 miles of Interstate 15 between Sahara Avenue and the ‘Spaghetti Bowl’ interchange in downtown Vegas. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2019.

 

183 SOUTH EXPRESSWAY PROJECT

In order to triple the capacity which carries more than 60,000 vehicles each day, an eight-mile expressway will stretch from US 290 to State Highway71. It will provide a non-stop, signal-free route to and from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The $743m 183 South Expressway project includes a $25m investment in bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Construction is expected to be completed in four years and take place in two phases. Phase one between US 290/290 Expressway and TechniCenter Drive, are scheduled to be completed in 2019. The second phase, stretching up to SH 71, is expected to be finished a year later.

 

LEE GARDEN THREE PROJECT IN CAUSEWAY BAY, HONG KONG

A contract worth HKD1.6bn ($206m) has been awarded by Hysan Development Company to Gammon Construction-Balfour Beatty JV to construct the Lee Garden Three project in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. The project will feature 20 levels of Grade A offices built above a five-storey retail podium of shops and will offer range of food and beverage establishments alongside a five-level basement with 200 parking lots. The project scheduled to be completed in late 2017 will be part of Hysan’s cluster of commercial buildings in Causeway Bay.

 

ALDAR PROPERTIES LAUNCHES YAS ACRES IN ABU DHABI

A residential development worth AED6bn (about $1.63bn) namely Yas Acres will be developed on the northern shores of Yas Island (Abu Dhabi). Yas Acres will feature 1,315 villas and will feature range of two- to six-bedroom villas and townhouses. Designed as Villa clusters, each cluster will have landscaped parks, running and cycling tracks, community pool areas along with playgrounds, sports facilities and barbecue areas. The other features include five mosques, two schools, a retail centre, a full service ADNOC petrol station, a yacht club and marina.
